DEEP Single-Cell funding call

03/31/2021
Partager
The DEEP Single-Cell funding aims to promote the use of single-cell technologies and methods to promote research contributing to the core scientific aims of the LabEx. This fast, reactive and flexible funding will act as a means to enable researchers to carry out single-cell experiments and analyses that are essential to their larger research program. With this funding, we hope to encourage young researchers to establish their own research projects and to enable the development, adaptation and optimization of novel protocols and methods for single-cell studies. Preliminary data is not necessary, and we encourage the development/adaptation of novel protocols and however, a clear outline of the project steps and feasibility are required. If needed, we recommend that applicants get in touch with the NGS and/or Single-Cell platforms for feedback on methods, technologies and budget depending on the relevance to their project.

DEEP Single-cell Funding - Application Deadline: May 28th, 2021 at noon

Objectives

The DEEP Single-Cell funding aims to promote the use of single-cell technologies and methods to promote research contributing to the core scientific aims of the LabEx. This fast, reactive and flexible funding will act as a means to enable researchers in the LabEx to carry out single-cell experiments and analyses that are essential to their larger research program.

Nature of the funding

Financing of 5K - 8k€ for specific consumables, small equipment, platform fees, external service fees to be used over the course of 12-months. Funding will start immediately upon notification of a selected application and must be used by the end of the 12-months so please submit projects that are ready-to-start within the following 6-months.

Eligibility

The project should not be part of an existing grant as the funding is meant to be a springboard for new projects and directions. Young researchers at any level - PhD student, Postdoc, Technician, Engineer, Permanent Researcher, Junior team leader - can be a project leader. Please note that this call is to encourage young researchers to apply as project leaders and to develop their own new lines of research.

Any innovative project involving single-cell technology and analysis is eligible, with an emphasis on the use of novel technologies/methods, optimization of new protocols and adaptations of methods/technologies for novel uses as long as the experimental methods and pipelines are clearly outlined. Collaborative projects are welcome and encouraged. Applications are limited to one per team so projects should be coordinated at the level of the whole team and validation by the team leader will be necessary.

Procedure

Please send applications to shauna.katz@curie.fr and ines.pires-santos-ramos-pinheiro@curie.fr. Applications will be evaluated every 6-months by members of the DEEP Governing Advisory Board (GAB), with LabEx-external single-cell experts (from the Institut Curie NGS and single-cell platforms) and young researchers (PhD students and postdocs) with experience in single-cell methodologies. Members of the LabEx will be notified of application evaluation meetings 3-months in advance to the meeting with regular reminders sent.

Evaluation of the projects

Projects will be evaluated by the GAB according to the following selection criteria:

  • Coherence of the scientific project
  • Clear need for the use of single-cell methods
  • The novelty of the project and methodology
  • Technical clarity of the proposed experimental program to achieve the objectives in the allotted time and with the associated resources
  • Added value of the funding in initiating the project
